Prepares detail and layout drawings and sketches of unusual, complex, or original designs requiring the application of theoretical and practical engineering knowledge.
Participates in performance appraisal process by conducting periodic coaching and progress review sessions with employees assigned to projects. Regularly assigns tasks to lower-level design personnel, provides technical guidance, and reviews completed assignments for accuracy.Provides conceptual input to projects during the planning stages.Also responsible for establishing manpower requirements, man-hour estimates, and completion schedules. Establishes design criteria for all phases of a project requiring the application of basic engineering principles, material properties, and a familiarity with construction, installation, and maintenance procedures.Oversees the implementation and completion of all phases of assigned projects, and independently performs the most difficult design assignments requiring the application of advanced design techniques in accordance with company and industry standards.
